Creative Scrappers 241

Starting my granddaughter's scrapbook!  This is one of the first photos of her.  Just minutes after they brought her to the room and handed her to me.

I know "they" say that babies don't really smile, but event he doctor and nurses commented on her smiles from that first day on.  I could be a little biased, but she is the sweetest little girl on earth!

The sketch for this page comes from Creative Scrappers #241.  Great sketch for this photo.

Want to Know Why?

Would you like to know why my blog has been silent for so long?

Meet my new little granddaughter!  Kathryn Olivia was born last Friday.  I am helping my daughter this week and holding this little girl a lot, too!

I haven't had a lot of time lately to stamp and miss it a lot.  I spent the few weeks before Kathryn came to get ready for Christmas since I will only be home 2 days before family comes in.  The holiday is going to be quite different this year!

RS #34

I came across a sketch challenge from Retro Sketches this morning and decided to play along.  I made a one-layer card with just a little trim on it.  It is probably the only one-layer card I've made that I was fairly satisfied with.  And Christmas Deer  finally got some ink.

SUO #55

The SUO challenge this week is all about texture.  Well this card I made for my son-in-law sure has texture.  I used four different colors from my retired cardstock stash and run them all through my  Big Shot with the Autumn Accents die.  I chose one leaf from each color and sponged the edges.  Then I spritzed them good with my wonderful little stampin spritzer and plain old water.  Then I wadded them all up really good and then opened them back up and let them dry overnight.  I sponged them again with  a little bit more color.  The leaves are piled onto a piece of vanilla cs that was run through the woodgrain embossing folder.  They actually looked like real leaves.

My son-in-law loves Fall, so I always make a fall-themed card.  I think he really liked this one.

PCCCS009

This card was created for the sketch from Paper Craft Crew.  It was also created for my mom's gift for my daughter's baby shower, so I had to wait to post it until after her shower.  I have had the set, Every Little Bit, for some time but this is the first time I have used it.  Worked perfectly for this sketch.

This page uses a sketch from Soul Scrappers and a color challenge comes from Impressions By Nicole DigiChallenge.  The star of this page is the youngest of our 3 cats.

This big guy belongs to my daughter and son-in-law.  This page uses a sketch from Stuck on U Sketches and the color combo from Create with Connie and  Mary Holiday Edition (subscriber).

Here is another page using the sketch from Stuck on U Sketches.

MDS Scrap Map 1

I created this page for the mydigitalstudio.net challenge.  Not sure if I got it in on time or not!  I hope I got the right year for that beautiful Chevy.  I am always forgetting which car is 1940 and which is 1950.  LOL!  I love them both!

CCMC215 & Nacho Average Challenge #8

I love the challenges from Nacho Average Challenges and Create with Connie & Mary this week.  I have been wanting to put some ink to this image from Full of Blessings.  You can find this beautiful set in the Holiday catalog on page 32.  One of my favorite techniques is water coloring so this was a must-have set for me.  And I love how this turned out today.  I learned how to make the 3-D flower from a video but I can't remember who did the video.  So easy!  I am sure I will make many more of them, but may not use too many of them on cards because I usually try to keep my cards fairly flat for mailing.

Stamps:  Full of Blessings
Paper:  tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie, real red dsp., water color paper
Ink:  black stazon
Extras:  markers and blender pen for coloring, chevron embossing folder, corner punch, 1 1/4" scallop circle punch

Freshly Made #47

Love, love, love this new core'dinations paper in the holiday catalog!  After I embossed it with the fancy fan folder, it didn't need much sanding at all.  Look at the beautiful design!

This card uses the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the stamp set is For the Birds.   I really like the look of watercoloring on the crumb cake cardstock.

Stamps:  For the Birds
Paper:  early espresso core'dinations, cherry cobbler, crumb cake, Be of Good Cheer dsp
Ink:  black stazon, early espresso (sponging)
Extras:  fancy fan embossing folder, labels framelits, designer natural buttons, cherry cobbler baker's twine

CCMC213 and Nacho Average Challenge #6

Double duty today.  I used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary and the color challenge from Nacho Average Challenge.  I noticed a lot of the sketches this week have horizontal strips of paper on them.  I like how they can really dress up a card.  My flower was punched with the blossom punch 2 times and the new 1 1/4" scallop punch 1 time.  I distressed the pieces and separated the layers so I had 6 layers to work with.

Stamps:  None!
Paper: sahara sand, rich razzleberry, lucky limeade, floral district dsp, night of navy dsp
Ink:  rich razzleberry, lucky limeade
Extras:  blossom punch, 1 1/4" scallop punch, build a blossom punch, finishing touch edgelits, neutral designer button

TSSC233 Perfectly Preserved

It's a bright sunny day here and I had a really hard time finding a good spot to photograph my card!  I bet I took 20 shots or more.  Still not totally satisfied, but got tired of trying.

The sketch I used on this card comes from Techno Stamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch by Mary Jo Price-Williams.  Perfectly Preserved is one of my favorite sets in the Holiday catty.  I can imagine there are lots of things we can do with that canning jar using other stamp sets along with it.

Stamps:  Perfectly Preserved, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Orchard Harvest dsp, lucky limeade, island indigo, whisper white
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple, lucky limeade, baja breeze
Extras:  argyle embossing folder, cannery set framelits

Thanks for stopping by!

Triple Time Stamping

I finally got around to trying the Triple Time Stamping technique. I watched this video by Dawn Olchefski.  French Foliage is a wonderful set to use for this technique.  I did use some retired peach parfait ink and ribbon.

Nacho Average Challenge #5

I can't say that this was an easy sketch for me.  I think I must be "flag challenged".  Using flags on my cards just doesn't come easy for me.  But I fought through it and here is my result.

Stamps:  Make a Cake, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper:  Patio Party dsp, midnight muse, primrose petals, whisper white
Ink:  midnight muse, primrose petals
Extras:  baja breeze seam binding, banners framelits

Thanks for stopping by!
Carol

Edited to add:  I didn't realize the Nacho challenge ended at midnight last night so I was too late.  Sad thing is my card was ready yesterday.  Just didn't get it on my blog.

PPA140 and Freshly Made #46

Today's card is for the Pals Paper Arts color challenge and the sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches.  I love this sketch, but have to say the color challenge "challenged" me a bit.  I am fairly happy with the end result, though.

Stamps:  Daydream Medallions, Blessed Mother
Paper:  marina mist, real red, summer starfruit, whisper white
Ink:  real red, summer starfruit
Extras:  dotted scallop ribbon border punch, designer button, floral frames framelits, baker's twine

I was a Cut Above!

I got a nice surprise the other day and so busy (see this post) that I didn't get around to posting about it.  My card was chosen as a Cut Above on the Paper Players for last week.

Thanks so much to LeAnne for this honor!

We've been busy!

I've mentioned a time or two that my craft room has been torn up while we were doing some remodeling.  My husband has been putting down ceramic tile and is pretty much finished with that. Just a few little touch ups on the grout and the space right at the foot of the steps is all that is left to do in that room. He took a break and we went to IKEA in Pittsburg last Sunday.  These pics show what we got there!

These beautiful shelf units replace folding tables and other odd storage items along the wall below my 19" pegboard.  Looks so much neater!

My current stamp sets are stored here in DVD holders and my few wooden sets are to the left of them.

Here in the middle section is my cutting and scoring center.

And for right now my Big Shot is on the left section.  We are planning another trip to IKEA soon and then I will have my Big Shot and all the items that go with it in another place.  Also planning some storage below the big window that is to the left of this wall.  I'll show more pics as we go along.  I am so lucky that my husband is so handy and is interested in making my crafting area so nice!
