This page was created from the sketch found at I used some photos from a trip to Columbus Zoo a few years ago.  Since my daughter and I both had pink shirts I had to pull some of that color into my page.  I love this layout and the way my page turned out.

Thanks for looking!

Sketchy Thursday 2-24-11

This layout uses the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.  I used ovals instead of rectangles for the photos. I think the title says it all!

Stylish Blogger Award

As I told you in my last post, I was nominated for the Stylish Blogger Award by Denise Willerton (Chez Moi Creations). Thanks Denise!

Part of the award is to do the following:
When you receive this award you are to:
1) thank the person who gave this award to me and link it back to their blog
2) share 8 things about myself
3) pass this award to 8 other individuals that I have recently discovered
4) leave a comment so that they can pass along the recognition!

So, here are 8 things about me:

1. I have been married to Bob for 37 years.
2. I have 2 grown daughters. Susan lives in Gastonia, NC and Teresa lives in Columbus, OH.
3. I work as a library aide in our local high school.  This is only my second year there. Before that I worked as an aide in the elementary school for 24 years.
4. I love crafting!  I have done a lot of different crafts over the years but papercrafting is my favorite.
5. I also love to read.  I just finished Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's newest book, Gideon's Sword.  Had a hard time putting it down.  Also love the Hunger Games series. And I am a big Mary Higgins Clark fan.
6. My favorite thing to decorate with is chickens. I have them all over the house.
7. I absolutely love music especially classic rock, contemporary christian and classical.  I almost always have the music stations on my TV playing in my craft room unless I am actually watching a program.
8. I would never cook if I could get out of it.  It is not the actual cooking I dislike.  It's the cleaning up afterward. I'd rather spend that time stamping!

And now for the 8 blogs I am nominating.  I was going to try to pick blogs that had not received this award yet, but I think that would take me hours to put that together, so I am just going to nominate some of my favorite sites.

1. Veronica at Bluegrass Stamper Studio
2. Jen at I Create
3. Wendy at It's All About Stamping
4. Julie at The Stamping Stewardess
5. Rhonda at The Stamping Bunny
6. Sage at Stamping Madly
7. Chat at Me, My Stamps & I
8. Robin at Trinity Designs

Now I have to tell these ladies that I nominated them.

Thanks again, Denise!

Blog Award and CCM week 5 sketch

I received a nice surprise today from Denise Willerton (Chez Moi Creations).  You really need to check out her blog.  She does great work.  Denise nominated me for the Stylish Blogger award.
I am honored!  Thanks so much, Denise!  I am supposed to tell you 8 things about myself and nominate 8 more people.  I will do that as soon as I can, but it may be a few days unless I can carve out some time tomorrow.  Got a few things going on here.

CCM week 5 scrapbook sketch

This page was created in MDS for the Create with Connie and Mary (subscriber only site) sketch for week 5.  This was a great sketch and I had a lot of fun playing with it.

Another sketch from mydigital I rather like how this one turned out. I thought it would be hard to get everthing layered on the page just right, but it came together pretty easily.

Sketchy Thursday 2-17-11

It's Thursday! Another great sketch from Sketchy Thursdays! I really enjoy using sketches to get started on my pages.  I look at the sketch, choose my photos, and then I pick colors that go with my photos. Just like with my cards, I usually go with a CAS (clean and simple) layout.

CCM week 4

I created this page for a sketch I found at Create with Connie and Mary Occasions Edition (a subscriber-only).  Every day they have wonderful projects and tutorials.   Love the clean lines of the sketch and the bright colors I used in MDS to showcase my azalea bush from 2009.

I was nominated!

Yesterday I got an email from Denise Willerton (Chez Moi Creations) saying she had nominated me for the Liebster award. So exciting! You need to check out her blog.  Fantastic work! I had seen where she was nominated on Ann Schach's blog, so I knew a little bit about it. But I sure was surprised to be nominated myself. I tend to be very critical of my own work and never think it is as good as other's I see.  I am very honored by this nomination.

The Liebster Blog Award is given to bring new blogs to light. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others.

As a recipient of this award I must share the love and pay it forward by:

1-Creating a post where I blog about the Liebster award & reveal my 3-5 blog picks

2-Let the honorees know that I selected them

3-Copy & paste the blog award on my blog

I chose the following blogs to nominate:  (I get my MDS sketches from this blog)

I get a lot of inspiration from these ladies.  I love the sketches I get from Alesha each week and Veronica and Terri both have created a lot of the CAS style I really love. Check them out!

So, thanks again, Denise. You made my day!

Time for another sketch from I created a mirrored 2-page layout again. Can't show one cat and not the other, now can I? Just in case you can't tell-we love our cats! Our girls are grown and live away from here, so these two are our babies. And, yes, they are quite spoiled.

PPA80 Vintage Card

I love this set! Nature Walk was stamped in Soft Suede onto Naturals White cardstock. This is for the challenge at Pals Paper Arts. To make it look vintage I tore one corner and curled another one. I sponged River Rock onto all the edges of the Naturals White. The little bee is popped up on a dimensional. I finished the card off with a Bravo Burgundy bow.

Sketchy Thursday 2-3-11

Another MDS sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

This little girl can be a very sweet cuddly cat (for a minute or two), but only when it suits her.  She doesn't like kids and she doesn't like other people to come to the house.  She hisses at everyone and then runs off and hides until every one has left.  But she does love me.
